Hey y’all! My name is Joie (pronounced like Joey) and I am a recent graduated from Viterbo University with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a minor in Dance (as well as an extended emphasis in Stage Management) ! Originally, I am from Tuscaloosa, Alabama (ROLL TIDE!) but have since taken residence across the midwest and New York, landing currently in Boston. I started dancing when I was two and tried just about every sport and other activity before theatre and dance took my heart. As I dove deeper into the theatre, I began to take on roles both on and off the stage. From teaching dance, building sets, running spot, and stage managing, you could always find me covered in paint or glitter. On top of my performance education at Viterbo, I also served as Co-Artistic director of our student led theatre company, The Student Theatre Project, and as the Vice President of our improv club, Funny Side Up. In addition I co-found our Pre-Professional Performing Arts Collective which organized master classes and workshops department wide.
As an artist, I believe in bringing your authentic self into the room and leaving the space in a better place than before I walked in. Growing up, I had a mentor who would also preach on the importance of “grace and kindness” and I continue to hold that close to my heart. I hope you are having a great day!
